- Tour
downtown Salem, two miles from the station, and
the Oregon State Capitol Campus, one-half mile away.
- Enjoy
Northwest Pioneer history at museums located
within two blocks of the train station. The Marion
County Historical Museum (503-364-2128) features
artifacts from pioneer life and Native American
baskets, weapons, and a dugout canoe. Visitors can
also experience the architecture, industry, and
lifestyles of the 19th century pioneer settlers and
turn-of-the-20th century industry at the Mission Mill
Museum (503-588-9902).
- Stroll through Bush's Pasture
Park, only seven blocks from the train station, a
100-acre city park planted with rare trees, shrubs,
and roses. The Bush Conservatory, built in 1882, is
said to be the oldest greenhouse in Oregon. Visit the
Bush House Museum, the former home of a pioneer banker
and newspaper publisher, including original 1877
