Schools on Trains Reservation Request 

This information must be read and acknowledged before accessing the registration form.

Reservations are now being accepted for trips planned between October 1, 2007 and May 22, 2008.

Important things a teacher needs to know before making reservations:

  • One form is required for each field trip
  • $10 each round-trip or one-way, between Eugene and Portland, Oregon; or between Portland, Oregon and Bellingham, Washington. Trips that begin south of Portland and cross the border into Washington State, or begin in Washington State and end south of Portland, will be charged $20. Roundtrip fares are for same-day travel only.
  • Amtrak accepts payment in the form of checks, credit cards or money orders.
  • Group size: 20-72 people (Additional participants will be charged regular Amtrak fares).
  • School/youth groups (ages 5-18 years) and their chaperones.
  • A minimum of one designated chaperone is required for every six students aboard the train.
  • Travel Monday through Thursday.
  • Children under 5 years of age must have a chaperone with them at all times.
  • Submit request at least 40 days prior to desired travel date.
Exceptions and restrictions:
  • Blackout dates
  • Only one school/youth group allowed on the train at a time
  • Children under 5 years in age and their chaperones can participate by paying regular Amtrak fares. Chaperones must be with children under 5 at all times.
  • Once your request is submitted, additional participants may be added at the regular Amtrak fares
  • Amtrak does not accept purchase orders or multiple payments.
  • No refunds after tickets have been issued
  • Note: the Schools on Trains program provides passenger rail service only. School groups are responsible for making their own arrangements for activities and transportation in their destination cities.
