Relive the eruption of Mount St. Helens over 20 years ago at the visitors' center located in Kelso. If volcanoes aren't your thing, visit the Farmer's Market in Longview for plenty of fresh vegetables and local crafts. The historic train station is a major transportation hub located in downtown Kelso.

3. Local Happenings

  • Find adventure in the aftermath of the volcanic eruption at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Kelso is home to the Mount St. Helens Volcano Information Center, a good place to start your trip to volcano country. Package tours are available from Alki Tours, 1-800-895-2554.
  • Pick up vegetables, fruits, plants, flowers, crafts, and food at the Farmer's Market in Longview. Located across from the Cowlitz County Exposition Center at 7th & Washington, the market is open Tuesdays and Saturdays, from May through September. Call 360-425-1297.
  • Visit the Cowlitz County Historical Museum at 405 Allen Street in Kelso and see historic photos, maps, and exhibits. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Closed Mondays & holidays. Free Admission. Call 360-577-3119.
  • Hit a round of golf at Three Rivers Golf Course, the only 18 hole golf course constructed on volcanic ash from Mount St. Helens.
