Holiday Open Houses
Some stations along the Amtrak Cascades route are
hosting Holiday Open Houses. Join us for refreshments, special train displays
and other events. Santa himself will visit some of the stations! Check back
often for updates.
Kelso, WA — Friday, December 2 — 5:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m.
Donate a new item of children's clothing (size 5-16) and receive a coupon to
travel Amtrak Cascades and bring a friend for free! There will also be
a food drive at the depot.
Enjoy free cider and cookies as you look around the Holiday Bazaar down in the
basement of the depot. There will also be a free hayride sponsored by the Kelso
High School Future Farmers of America. Other activities include face painting,
cookie decorating and handmade crafts done by volunteers. There will also be
food vendors and entertainers throughout the evening.
Santa Claus will be at the station, handing out candy canes and posing for free
photos with children.
The tree lighting event starts at 5:00 p.m. There will be prize drawings until
8:00 p.m.
Edmonds, WA — Saturday, December 3 — 1:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m.
Donate a new, unwrapped toy to Marine Corps' Toys for Tots, or bring a canned
food item for Northwest Second Harvest, and receive a coupon to travel Amtrak Cascades
and bring a friend for free!
Enjoy refreshments while you look at exhibits from the Edmonds Model Railroad
Club; Railway artist J. Craig Thorpe; Victoria Clipper; and the Washington
Association of Rail Passengers (WashARP).
Get there early and greet Santa Claus when he arrives on Amtrak Cascades
Train #510 at 8:13 a.m., bringing candy canes for the kids!
Bellingham, WA — Saturday, December 3 — 1:00 p.m.
to 3:00 p.m.
Donate a new, unwrapped toy to Marine Corps' Toys for Tots and receive a coupon
to travel Amtrak Cascades and bring a friend for free!
While you're at the station, view special model train displays from the
Bellingham Railway Museum. Meet Santa Claus at the Port of Bellingham's Holiday Port Festival in the Alaska Ferry Terminal,
next to Fairhaven Station. The festival runs December 2nd through the 4th and
includes music, dancing, refreshments and a gingerbread house contest and
auction.
Seattle, WA — Saturday, December 10 — 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m.
Donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots and receive a coupon to travel
Amtrak Cascades and bring a friend for free!
Santa Claus will be at the station, posing for free photos with children. See
displays about the renovation of Seattle's historic
King Street Station.
Portland, OR — Sunday, December 11 — 1:00 p.m. to
5:00 p.m.
Donate a new, unwrapped toy to Marine Corps' Toys for Tots, or bring a canned
food item for the Sunshine Division food bank, and receive a coupon to travel
Amtrak Cascades and bring a friend for free!
Enjoy refreshments while you look at exhibits from the Pacific Northwest
Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, the Pacific Railroad
preservation Association and Operation Lifesaver.
Santa Claus arrives at 4:00 p.m. for a short visit on his way to Vancouver, WA.
Santa will arrive at Union Station aboard a special train pulled by the
Spokane, Portland and Seattle steam engine (SP&S #700).
