Buying a Ticket

It's easy to purchase your Amtrak Cascades ticket.  Chose one of four options:

Reservations
  • Purchase tickets and make seat reservations early for the lowest prices.
  • Upgrade to Business Class during peak travel times. Trains are often full on Friday and Sunday evenings, during the summer and holidays.
  • Remember to mention special needs, including wheelchair access, Business Class upgrade, food restrictions, or checked baggage or bicycle.
Assigned Seats
  • Seats aboard Amtrak Cascades are available by reservation only to ensure everyone has a seat on the train.
  • Assigned seating is available on your day of travel.
    • At most stations you will receive your seat assignment once you board the train.
    • On peak travel days, seats are assigned at some stations - Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, B.C. - during the hour before departure. This helps us better seat groups of travelers together and provide appropriate seating for groups boarding at later stops.

Receive Your Ticket

At a Quik-Trak Ticket Machine
Skip the line and enjoy the ride! Tickets purchased online can be picked up at a Quik-Trak Ticket Machine located at most stations. Record the confirmation number when you book online (this number is displayed on your e-mail confirmation). Enter this number and your credit card at a Quik-Trak Ticket Machine to instantly access your ticket information. Most stations have Quik-Trak Ticket Machines available, check your station and destination to be sure.

Tickets by Mail
Amtrak can mail your ticket to your home or business, if purchased at least ten business days in advance (20 days in Canada).

Get the Lowest Fare

Reserve Early
You will get lower fares by purchasing tickets well in advance of your trip. Fares gradually rise as trains fill and as the departure date nears, so make reservations as soon as you're confident of your travel schedule.

Take a Midweek Trip
Lower fares are more available on train schedules that are less popular. On most Amtrak Cascades routes, Friday evenings, Sunday evenings, and holidays are most popular. If you can adjust your travel schedule, explore midweek travel or morning trains for lower fares.
